Condensation issues

Condensation build up in rental properties is a perennial issue and can lead to mould build up, which is a difficult problem to manage. This winter season has been particularly acute because we have been subjected to spells of very cold weather which have been combined with extremely calm conditions. This has meant that properties have not received natural ventilation when they needed it most. At JustMove we work together with the tenants initially to identify any additional measures that can be taken to reduce sources of condensation and improve ventilation. This should always be the first step in tackling the problem as it directly targets reducing the source of the condensation, rather than looking at measures to remove it.

Clearly some properties (usually older properties) are more prone to condensation build up than others and this can continue to recur even when the tenant is taking all sensible measures to tackle the problem. In these cases we would then recommend that the landlord investigates additional measures such as active/passive ventilation systems and dehumidifiers in order to bring the problem under control.
